Andrea Pirlo to start a new journey with Fatih Karagumruk SK

Andrea Pirlo is back in charge of a team after being named the new head coach of Fatih Karagumruk SK in Turkey.

Since he was fired from his first job as a manager at Juventus a year ago, the Italian has been out of work.

Early this week, there were rumors that Pirlo would take the job with the Turkish team. Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal is official.

Sky Sports said that the former Juventus and Italy midfielder has signed a 12-month contract with the club. This means that he will be back on the field after a short break.

The 43-year-old was fired by Juventus at the end of the 2020-21 season because he did poorly in the Champions League and Serie A, even though he won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

Last season, his new club came in eighth place in Turkey’s top league. However, it is said that they want to challenge Istanbul’s big teams for the top spot.

The club thinks that Pirlo can help them reach their goals because they see him as a winner.

It is known that Spezia was interested in him. If they had signed him, he would have stayed in Serie A after being fired from the Old Lady.

Pirlo could still talk to other people, though, and he is now in charge of Karagumruk, which finished eighth in the Super Lig last year.

They now want to compete with teams like Fenerbahce and Galatasaray next year, and Pirlo will try to help them get better by using his many years of experience.

At the club, there is also something of an Italian tradition. Emiliano Viviano in goal, Davide Biraschi on defense, and Caner Erkin both played in Serie A.

Lucas Biglia, who used to play for AC Milan, Abdoulaye Toure, who was on loan at Genoa, Fabio Borini, and Yann Karamoah will all be available to Pirlo.
