Angel Di Maria will leave Paris Saint-Germain after seven seasons.
The contract of the Argentina winger has expired, and the French champions confirmed his exit late Friday night.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi remarked, “Angel Di Maria has left an indelible stamp on the history of the club.” “He will be remembered by fans as someone with an unblemished attitude who has protected our colors with perfect passion.”
When PSG plays Metz later Saturday, Al-Khelaifi asked supporters to “go down to the Parc des Princes to offer him the homage he deserves.”
Di Maria will attempt to add to his 91 goals and club-record 111 assists in his 295th and last appearance for PSG.
The season finale begins with no word on Kylian Mbappe’s future. Real Madrid is interested in signing the striker whose contract is about to expire.
Di Maria, 34, scored 15 goals and had 25 assists in all competitions in his debut season with the club after signing in 2015, breaking the record for most league assists with 18.
Di Maria shone for PSG, where his mix of silky passing, pace down the flank, quick feet, and great finishing ripped through defenses.
However, in several of the biggest games, a lack of effort rate while tracking back was criticized, particularly when PSG lost close games in the Champions League.
He won five league crowns, two French Cups, and four League Cups.
