At Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace thrashed Arsenal

A 3-0 win at Selhurst Park for Crystal Palace over Arsenal, extending their unbeaten streak to five games (3W-2D-0L).

Almost immediately after the quarter-hour mark, Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring as Crystal Palace were unleashed by Patrick Vieira following what must have been a difficult but fruitful week of training. In the following eight minutes, Jordan Ayew doubled the lead, and Wilfried Zaha added a late penalty kick to round out the rout with ease.

Crystal Palace (37 points, up from 12th at the start of the game) moves up to 9th in the Premier League table, pulling ahead of a chasing pack that includes Leicester City (37 points), Aston Villa (36 points), Southampton (36 points), Brighton (34) and Brentford (33) in the race for two places in the top half of the table. Arsenal (54 points), on the other hand, remain in fifth place, one point behind Tottenham on goal difference, despite the fact that the Gunners have a game in hand.
