The defending champions played their game postponed from the 21st stage and fell at home to bottom-placed Levante with a goal for nothing.
Defending champions Atletico Madrid played a game postponed from the 21st stage of the Spanish La Liga and missed the opportunity to boost their chances of participating in the Champions League next season, falling at home on Wednesday against bottom tier Levante Zero-1.
After Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 win over Getafe in a game with a first-half encounter that saw six goals equally before Atletico score in the 89th minute. Atletico had every chance of winning their second successive and 12th of the season against a struggling guest this season.
Levante shocked the hosts at the start of the second half with a 54th-minute lead through Gonzalo Melero after receiving a pass from Jorge De Frutos, hitting it from a difficult angle to the left of goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Atletico’s tally stayed at 39 points in 5th place, behind Barcelona in fourth place on goal difference, while Levante increased their tally to 14 points, continuing in last place.
