Barcelona’s Pedri and the Spanish National Team was crowned as the best under-21 player in the world.
The Spanish player took advantage of this award, which he received because of his great performance in 2021 and thanked his team Barcelona and his former colleague Argentine football legend Lionel Messi, the current PSG player, also thanked his family at the end of his speech.
Pedri, who celebrated his 19th birthday last Thursday, has excelled remarkably in recent months and has managed to book his place in La Roja’s starting line-up. Pedri was named the best promising player in last summer’s European Cup finals when his country was knocked out of the semi-finals by Italy, which later won the title.
Pedri ended his marathon season in Japan with a silver in the Tokyo Olympics following Spain’s loss to Brazil in his 73rd match in 2020-2021.
Pedr started his football career with a team Las Palmas in the Canary Islands before starting his career with Barcelona in September 2020. He became the second youngest promising player to play 50 games for Barcelona behind Bojan Krkic. Last Monday, he won the Italian newspaper Tuttosport’s Golden Boy award for best young under-21 player on the old continent. Pedri extended his contract with Barcelona last October until June 2026
