Barcelona and Chelsea to battle over french star, says Fabrizio Romano

After competing for Raphinha, Barcelona and Chelsea are preparing to compete for a new transfer target: Sevilla’s Jules Kounde. In his most recent YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano has brought us up to date on the saga.

Chelsea and Barcelona are both making significant efforts to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window.

While Chelsea responded decisively to get Raheem Sterling, who had previously been offered to Barcelona, according to rumors, Barcelona won the battle to sign Brazilian winger Raphinha, the best player for Leeds in the previous two Premier League seasons.

Chelsea had been connected with the Brazilian on numerous occasions, and had even had an offer approved by Leeds. But Raphinha’s heart was set on Barcelona, and he eventually got his wish, joining fellow summer Barca acquisitions Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, and Andreas Christensen for an initial £50 million.

According to Romano, the Barcelona versus Chelsea situation is destined to repeat itself with Sevilla’s 23-year-old French center-back Kounde.

“My impression is that we are in front of another kind of Raphinha situation,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“Do you recall, guys?” A few weeks ago, Chelsea reached an agreement with Leeds over Raphinha, but the player subsequently decided to join Barcelona, sparking a two-week battle. It was not a simple task. Raphinha’s opponents are Barcelona and Chelsea.

“And now comes a new battle: Barcelona vs. Chelsea for Jules Kounde.” What’s going on, fellas? Chelsea made an initial verbal proposal on Monday night. The plan was roughly [€]50 million with add-ons, for a total package of [€]55[million], [€]57[million] for Kounde.

“Sevilla said no to this proposition since Jule Kounde is valued at roughly €65 million.” The release clause is [€]80[million], but they are willing to accept [€]65million for Jules Kounde, according to my sources.”

Chelsea, according to Romano, are not deterred by the valuation and are eager to “push again, to try again.” He also stated that Kounde and Chelsea are talking about personal matters.

“Barcelona are incredibly strong on [the] player’s side,” he continued. Because the player has been a long-term target for Barcelona. Xavi called him several times.

“So Barcelona is pursuing Kounde… Barcelona is on [the] players’ side. They are working hard to establish a personal deal with Jules Kounde.

“At the present, Kounde is in talks with both teams… However, Barcelona is currently putting pressure on the player, while Chelsea is putting pressure on Sevilla.”
