Barcelona continued to waste points and fell into a draw against hosts Osasuna (2-2) on Sunday in the 17th stage of La Liga.
Nicolas Gonzalez opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 12th minute before Osasuna equalised quickly in the 14th minute by Defender David Garcia. As the second half began, Barcelona advanced again through rookie striker Abdessamad Ezzalzouli li in the 49th minute. The Catalan team was near to steal the three points until ChimyAvila scored Osasuna’s equaliser in the 86th minute to end the game with a draw.
Barcelona increased their tally to 24 points in eighth place after the team drew for the sixth time this season and with four defeats and only six victories since the start of the season. Osasuna increased his tally to 22 points in 10th place.
“Our young players are the main positive but in general the result is negative,” Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández said after the match. “It is good for the future of the club, but it reveals the reality of the current situation. They are very young, and we cannot expect them to perform well every week. It’s hard, it needs time and patience.”
Xavi, who achieved two wins from his six matches as a coach, Barcelona “need an urgent win”.
