Bayern Munich sign France U-17 captain Mathys Tel
Julian Nagelsmann believes he is capable of scoring 40 goals every season, and FC Bayern feels he is worth up to 30 million euros: elite prospect Mathys Tel has signed a contract with the club.
Mathys Tel arrives at Munich from Stade Rennes, his youth club.
FC Bayern completed the transfer of French attacker Mathys Tel.
The 17-year-old joins from the French first division squad Stade Rennes, as the German record champion confirmed on Tuesday.
The Munich firm provided no information regarding the contract’s term.
According to media sources, the adolescent has signed a five-year deal.
Tel is regarded as one of Europe’s top attacking players.
According to rumours, the captain of France’s U17 national team will cost up to 30 million euros in transfer fees.
The adolescent has yet to establish himself permanently in the first division.
The Sturmjuwel made seven Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes.
“We’ve been monitoring him for a long time and have now persuaded him to take his next significant steps with us in Munich,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
»Developing such a talented young player is an interesting project for all of us.
We are all confident that he has a bright future and will contribute to our club.”
Outstanding advance praise
During the tour to the United States, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann gushed over Tel and set lofty targets for his development: “He can become one of the best scorers,” Nagelsmann says, adding that Tel is capable of “one day scoring 40 goals each season.” “But if he scores ten goals this season, we’ll all be delighted,” shoots.
Before Tel, Ousmane Dembélé (FC Barcelona) and Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid) emerged from the Rennes academy as world-class prospects.
Tel is Munich’s seventh summer acquisition, following Sadio Mané (Liverpool FC), Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus Turin), Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax Amsterdam).
Another candidate is RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
