Benfica defeat Ajax in his fort and reach Champions League quarter-finals

Portuguese club Benfica reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League by beating Dutch hosts Ajax Amsterdam with a goal on Tuesday in the second leg of the final.

At the “Johan Cruyff Arena” in Amsterdam, despite Ajax’s advantage throughout the game, Uruguayan Darwin Nunez managed to score the only goal of the game from a header ball in the 77th minute, taking advantage of a beautiful free-kick for the Spanish back Alex Grimaldo, to qualify Benfica Champions of the 1961 and 1962 editions by winning the total of the two home and away games (3-2).

The first leg between the two teams ended in a draw with two goals for both teams.
