Around 18 months after Diego Maradona’s death, the public prosecutor’s office brought accusations against his medical team.
According to the allegations, Maradona was handled unfairly, and eight people accused of manslaughter risk up to 25 years in jail if convicted.
Those accused late Wednesday were Leopoldo Luque, Maradona’s personal physician, and Agustina Cosachov, his psychiatrist, as well as a psychologist, another physician, the medical coordinator for the health insurance, and three nurses. Each and every one of them denies wrongdoing.
Maradona died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60 at a private apartment north of Buenos Aires, only weeks after having brain surgery.
According to the investigators, several errors were made in the former World Cup winner’s home care when he was in ill condition.
