Chelsea secured a very difficult victory over hosts Aston Villa by three goals on Sunday in the 19th stage of the English Premier League.
Aston Villa opened the scoring with an own goal by Chelsea’s Reece James in the 28th minute before Blues midfielder Jorginho equalized with a penalty in the 34th minute and the first half ended in a 1-1 draw. In the 56th minute, striker Romelu Lukaku put his Chelsea team ahead by scoring the second goal from a header minutes after coming on to the pitch. Lukaku returned and played the starring role perfectly after receiving the ball from the midfield and overcame with his strength and speed all the Aston Villa players, forcing the defender Kansa to give a penalty from which Jorginho scored the third goal in the (90+3) minute.
Chelsea increased their tally to 41 points in third place by a margin of 6 points behind leaders Manchester City while Aston Villa’s tally is frozen at 22 points in 10th place.
In another match, Tottenham Hotspur managed to achieve victory over Crystal Palace 3-0
Harry Kane (32), Lucas Moura (34), and South Korean Heung-Min Son (74) scored the triple for coach Antonio Conte. Tottenham Hotspur have 29 points from 16 games and Crystal Palace have stayed with 20 points from 18 games.
