Chelsea (4-0) overcame Juventus on Tuesday in the fifth stage of Group G to book the pass to the champions league final.
Chelsea honored the Italian hosts Juventus with a clean four on Tuesday in the fifth round of group 8 competitions, and accompanied him to the round of 16 of the Champions League football competition.
The 4 goals by the defending champions were rotated by Trevoh Chalobah (25), Reece James (56), Callum Hudson-Odoi (58) and German Timo Werner (90+5).
Chelsea increased their tally to 12 points and led the group by two direct confrontations against the old lady’s team, which was guaranteed qualification.
The London team avenged their loss back in Turin with a goal from Federico Chiesa.
Chelsea opened the scoring in the 25th minute, when Chalobah met a corner inside the area and hit it hard into the net. This goal sparked controversy as there seemed to be a hand touch from Germany’s Antonio Rudiger, but the referee did not return to video technology (VAR).
Juventus’ first chance came in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half, after Chiesa passed the ball to Uruguayan Rodrigo Bentancur in front of the penalty area and the latter shot it next to the left-hand post.
In the second half, Chelsea continued their superiority offensively, and James strengthened the lead with the second goal after receiving a ball distracted by error from the defence and hit it strongly in the goal (56).
Hudson-Odoi added a third goal, after a mess inside the Juventus penalty area, and the ball reached Moroccan Hakim Ziyech, who passed it to Odoi to put it in the net (58).
From a defensive error, Ziyech managed to get the ball into the left gallery and passed a cross that Werner cleared with a close shot, ending the goal fest (90+5).
In another match that became marginal with Chelsea’s victory, Sweden’s Malmö drew with Zenit St. Petersburg with a goal for each.
