Chelsea reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup by beating Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal 1-0 on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal in the 32nd minute. The English team hit a date with Brazil’s Palmeiras, who beat Egypt’s Al Ahly 2-0 on Tuesday in the final scheduled for Saturday in the UAE capital.
Chelsea are aiming to become the third English team after Manchester United and Liverpool to win this trophy, having reached the final in 2012 and losing to Brazilian Corinthians.
Brazil’s Palmeiras qualified for the final of the Club World Cup after beating Egypt’s Al Ahly with two clean goals on Tuesday in the semi-finals. The match took place at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi and the first half ended with Palmeiras leading with a clean goal scored by Rafael Vega in the 39th minute before Dodo scored the second goal of the second half, in the 49th minute.
Al Ahly finished the match with ten players after the dismissal of defender Ayman Ashraf in the 81st minute.
