Diogo Jota signs long-term Liverpool contract till 2027

Diogo Jota has scored 34 goals in 85 appearances since joining Liverpool from Wolves in the summer of 2020; the Portugal international has had his five-year contract extended and improved since arriving at Anfield.

Diogo Jota, a Liverpool forward, has signed a long-term contract extension with the club.

The new contract for the 25-year-old, who has scored 34 goals in 85 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Wolves in the summer of 2020, is expected to last until 2027.

Following the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, Jota joins fellow Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in signing a new contract with the club this summer.

“Well, I have to say, [I’m] really proud,” Jota told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Obviously, I’ve established myself as an important player in this team since I arrived two years ago – that’s what I wanted from the start.”

“Signing a new long-term contract is obviously proof of the club’s belief in myself as a player.” It’s obviously very important for me to establish that I’ll be here for a while.”

Jota has missed Liverpool’s preseason games and Saturday’s Community Shield win over Manchester City due to a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Portugal in June.
