Edin Terzic returned to Borussia Dortmund as a coach on Monday, a year after leaving the same position.
Dortmund confirmed in a statement that he will sign a contract until 2025.
Terzic was appointed temporary coach at Dortmund in December 2020, but by the time he had won the German Cup and qualified for the Champions League that season, Dortmund had already agreed to hire Marco Rose from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Terzic advanced to the position of technical director.
After Rose was let go after an unimpressive season, Terzic was the obvious and inexpensive option for the Bundesliga runners-up.
The 39-year-old German-Croatian takes on a team that is losing Erling Haaland to Manchester City but has already signed Germany trio Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Karim Adeyemi. Salih Ozcan from Cologne will also be there.
