Draw in the last game of the season, as Lewandowski prepares to leave Bayern Munich

Champions Bayern Munich wasted a two-goal lead to finish the season with a 2-2 draw against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, but the news that star scorer Robert Lewandowski wants to leave the club was more concerning.

Bayern were in command from the outset, thanks to the Pole’s inclusion in the starting lineup despite alerting the club of his desire to depart and not extend his contract, which expires next year.

In the 17th minute, Josip Stanisic headed them in ahead, creating a new league record with the club’s 48th away goal of the season.

Lewandowski extended Bayern’s advantage in the 40th minute with his 35th league goal of the season, as he was named Bundesliga top scorer for the sixth season in a row.

On the stroke of halftime, Jonas Wind drew one back for the hosts, and Max Kruse leveled just before the hour mark as Bayern ran out of ideas.

Bayern had won their 10th consecutive league championship only a few weeks before.
