Everton announce Duncan Ferguson as interim coach

Everton’s Premier League rivals have announced the appointment of their former star Duncan Ferguson as interim coach following the dismissal of his Spanish coach Rafael Benítez.

Ferguson made 230 appearances for Everton in two periods from 1994 to 1998, having played 107 games, scoring 35 goals, and then from 2000 to 2006, at which time he had played in 123 games, scoring 23 goals. It was Ferguson’s second interim coaching position and the first was in 2019.

Everton are 16th in the league and have a total of 19 points only in 19 league games, the lowest since the 2005-06 season.
