FC Barcelona: Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen transfers confirmed by the president

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club has agreed to terms with free agents Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen.

Both players were available for free transfers when their contracts with AC Milan and Chelsea ended at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, respectively.

Kessie completed a five-year stint at Milan on a positive note, scoring six league goals in 31 games to help the club win its first Scudetto in almost a decade. Christensen, on the other hand, left Chelsea after winning the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Champions League the previous season.

In an interview, Laporta confirmed both acquisitions as well as the dates on which they would be revealed as Barcelona players:

“On Wednesday, we’ll present Kessié, and on Thursday, we’ll present Christensen,” he stated.

The president of Barcelona also provided an update on the probable arrival of Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, stating that the club is ‘flattered’ that Lewa is interested in joining them.

“Lewandowski is a Bayern Munich player, and I like to be cautious on this subject,” he stated.

“I admire Bayern and would never speak about a player from another team.” We appreciate his interest in visiting Barça and are pleased.”
