Goalkeeper Burki will leave Dortmund at the end of the season

German football club Borussia Dortmund announced Wednesday that Swiss international goalkeeper Roman Burki will leave at the end of the season, to move to the American League “MLS” in order to defend the colors of St. Louis city.

The Swiss made 232 appearances in the Dortmund shirt before finding himself out of the squad this season, which has seen no participation, having become the third choice behind fellow countryman Gregor Kobel and veteran Marwin Hitz.

“Personally, I have spent a lot of time in the United States in recent years, I am a great fan of American sports and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the development of a new club like St. Louis, which will join the MLS league from 2023.
