Lille, the Ligue 1 champions, announced on Wednesday the signing of former international Hatem Ben Arfa until the end of the season in an attempt to revive his career.
The 34-year-old Tunisian, who has been a professional at several clubs in his career, has been a free agent since leaving Bordeaux last year. Lille will be his 10th club since his professional career began 15 years ago, having started with Lyon and then Marseille, and then moved to England where he starred with Newcastle he played a season with Hull City, before returning to France and playing for Nice, Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes, and briefly playing with Valladolid in Spain.
Ben Arfa signed with Bordeaux in October 2020 before leaving at the end of his contract the following summer. Meanwhile, Lille announced that they will loanTurkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici to CSKA Moscow until the end of the season with the option to buy. Having achieved a surprise by winning the league title last season against the giants Paris Saint-Germain, Lille is struggling this season and occupying tenth place with 21 points far from the leaders PSG.
