Inter Milan announced the signing of Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana on a free transfer on Friday.
According to media sources, the 26-year-old has joined Inter on a five-year contract after declining to extend his contract with Ajax Amsterdam, which ended in June.
“I’m thrilled to be a member of this fantastic club and family, as well as this fantastic institution. What more can you say about a team that has accomplished everything? Being here is incredible, and we expect to accomplish significant goals in the future “Onana said.
He will face Slovenia’s 37-year-old Samir Handanovic, Inter’s first choice since 2012.
Onana, who was banned by European soccer’s governing body UEFA last year for doping violations, departs Ajax with three Eredivisie championships.
Inter, who finished second to AC Milan in Serie A last season, have already acquired Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan from Chelsea and Albania midfielder Kristjan Asllani from Empoli.
