Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp revealed on Wednesday that the contract extension of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah “is on the track” despite the long negotiations.
“I know Mo (Mohamed Salah) wants to stay,” Klopp said on the eve of Arsenal’s semi-final clash on Thursday. We want him to stay and I think things are on track. I’m very optimistic about that. The fans aren’t as nervous about this as you are.”
The 29-year-old Egyptian player, the top scorer in the English Premier League with 16 goals, has a year and a half before the end of his current contract with the team. Salah said earlier this week in an interview he does not ask for “crazy things”. According to press reports, Salah, who won the Champions League and English Premier League with Liverpool, is looking for a weekly salary of more than £300,000 ($410,000).
