Leeds United fought to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday Night Football, keeping them five points clear of the relegation zone.
Burnley’s 1-0 victory over Wolves on Sunday increased the pressure on Leeds ahead of their trip to Selhurst Park, and they failed to respond, leaving the teams separated by only three points heading into the last five games of the season.
It was a game with few opportunities, but Palace were dominating and will be upset that they could not clinch a victory that would have moved them to 40 points and put any residual relegation fears to rest.
While Leeds will be relieved to have earned a point after a difficult night away from home, it puts them in a perilous position ahead of a difficult run-in that includes games against Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Everton, in the eighth position, have a game in hand on Leeds and Burnley, and if they win, Frank Lampard’s team would cut the gap on the Whites to two points.
