At a press conference, President Joan Laporta was asked about the squad numbers and confirmed Lewandowski would keep the number 9 for next season.
“The club decided on Lewandowski’s number nine.” “For reasons that are important to the club, for image and advertising,” he explained. “We thought it was an appropriate decision, and we made it with all due respect for Memphis, and he understood perfectly.”
Following the arrivals of Lewandowski and Raphinha, as well as the renewal of Ousmane Dembele’s contract, there has been speculation that Memphis will move on this summer.
Both Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have been linked with the forward, who appears to have accepted that he must leave if he wants to play regularly next season.
