Liverpool add Porto to their list of “victims”

Liverpool continued the series of positive results in the Champions League by achieving the full mark after beating Porto 2-0 on Wednesday in the fifth round of group B matches of the competition.

Liverpool increased their tally to 15 points in the lead, while Porto froze at 5 points in second place, ahead by a margin of one point from Milan the third and Atlético Madrid the fourth. The second card was postponed to the last round, which will see Porto face Atletico and AC Milan face Liverpool. Liverpool had secured the final slot in the previous round, while Porto would have followed them if they had beat the Reds and Atlético Madrid had lost to AC Milan. German coach Jürgen Klopp’s men played the continental match after a 4-0 win over Arsenal in the English Premier League.

The Reds waited for the second half to score the two goals, through Spain’s Thiago Alcantara (52), before adding Egyptian Mohamed Salah the second (70).

In the second match at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Milan stole the three points of their match against the hosts Atletico Madrid (1-0). Brazilian Junior Messias scored Milan’s only goal in the 87th minute.
