Liverpool are said to have reached a ‘in principle agreement’ to acquire Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho.
The Reds were on the verge of bringing the 19-year-old to Anfield during the January transfer window, but the deadline put an end to their plans.
Now it appears like a deal for the talented kid is still in the books, with a move to Merseyside only a formality.
According to the report, Liverpool is ‘confident of getting the deal done for one-cap Portugal Under 21 international after a January physical.
Carvalho, who has been dubbed “amazing” by Marco Silva, has seven goals and six assists in 27 Championship appearances so far this season.
Both clubs are understood to be keen to avoid a tribunal to determine the compensation amount, with the player valued at £3.15 million and out of contract at the end of the current season (Transfermarkt).
Instead, the Reds might be prepared to pay £8 million for the brilliant offensive midfielder.
Carvalho, who prefers to play in advanced central positions, would bring a whole new dimension to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield ranks and might mark the end of Alex Oxlade-Merseyside Chamberlain’s career.
