Mahrez extends his contract with Manchester City

On Friday, Riyad Mahrez agreed to a two-year contract deal with Premier League winners Manchester City.

After helping City maintain the English Premier League championship, Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has been rewarded with a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.

Mahrez has made 189 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side since joining from Leicester for £60 million ($71 million) four years ago, scoring 63 goals and giving 45 assists.

With City, he has three Premier League championships, three League Cups, and one FA Cup.

“I’m delighted to sign the new contract. I have loved every minute of my stay here. It’s an honor to be a member of such an outstanding club, “Mahrez said.

“To have contributed to our success over the last four seasons has been memorable, and it has fueled our desire to accomplish even more.

“I’d also want to thank Pep, Txiki (Begiristain), and the coaching staff for both helping me grow as a player and pushing me to keep improving.

“Now all I want to do is strive to contribute to our success next season and beyond.”

Mahrez scored 24 goals in all competitions for City last season and seems ready to play an important role this season after the exits of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

“In the four years since he joined us, Riyad has played a significant role in our success,” City director of football Txiki Begiristain stated.

“He is one of the game’s most dynamic wingers, and we are all extremely delighted to know he will be a part of our continued push to achieve further success.”
