Man City thrash Manchester United 4-1 to strengthen their lead

Manchester City restored a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 4-1 victory against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez.

United were missing injured Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani in attack, but it was the presence of defenders Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw, who were out due to coronavirus positive cases, that was most felt.

Belgian Kevin De Bruyne (5 + 28) and Algerian Riyad Mahrez (68 + 90+3) each scored goals for Pep Guardiola’s team while Jadon Sancho scored the only “United” goal in the 22nd minute.

Manchester City remains at the top of the Premier League with 69 points after 22 wins, 3 draws, and 3 defeats while Manchester United are in fifth place with 47 points from 13 wins, 8 draws, and 7 losses.
