Manchester City capture tough win from Arsenal

Manchester City picked up a tough and thrilling victory from hosts Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday in the opening of week 21 of the English Premier League.

The match was the first in the new year 2022 and came out full of excitement, and hot events were the Gunners played with 10 players from the 59th minute after a red card for defender Gabriel. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for Arsenal with a superb goal (31) before Riyad Mahrez equalized for Manchester City (57) from the penalty spot. In the last minutes (90+3), Rodri scored Manchester City’s second goal.

City increased their tally to 53 points while Arsenal’s stayed fourth with 35 points. The London team relied on French striker and captain Alexandre Lacazette, and on the Japanese Takehiro Tomasso in defense, while Rob Holding started at the bench. Spanish coach Mikel Arteta missed the match because of coronavirus, replaced by Dutch assistant Albert Stuivenberg.

Portuguese defender Joao Cancello, who was assaulted and injured by two robbers at home, was present, as Spanish coach Pep Guardiola started with the attacking trio Mahrez, Sterling, and Gabriel Jesús.
