Manchester United signed Feyenoord left defender Tyrell Malacia
Manchester United announced on Tuesday that it has signed Dutch left defender Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord until June 2026, with the option to extend the deal for another year.
The financial terms of the move were not released, although British media claimed that United paid roughly 13 million pounds ($15.56 million) for the 22-year-old, plus another 1.7 million pounds in add-ons.
Malacia made 50 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord during the 2021-22 season, helping them finish third in the Eredivisie and reach the Europa Conference League final, which they lost to AS Roma.
Malacia, who has five caps for the Netherlands, will battle for a spot in United’s starting lineup alongside Luke Shaw and Alex Telles under new manager Erik ten Hag.
United, who finished sixth last season and lost out on Champions League qualifying, kick off the 2018 Premier League season on Aug. 7 at home against Brighton & Hove Albion.
