Marseille announce the signing of Alexis Sanchez after Inter contract termination

Marseille has signed Chile’s all-time leading scorer Alexis Sanchez on a two-year contract.

Sanchez, who agreed to leave Serie A side Inter Milan on Monday, completed his move to the French club on Wednesday after passing medical tests.

Before being released by Inter, the former Manchester United player was linked with a move to the Ligue 1 club.

In an animation announcing Sanchez’s arrival, Marseille depicted the 33-year-old forward as a superhero.

Sanchez scored 20 goals in 109 appearances for the 19-time Italian champions after joining on loan from Manchester United in 2019.

The former Arsenal striker scored seven goals to help Inter win their first Italian title in 11 years in the 2020-21 season, but he has not played regularly since.

Sanchez, a two-time Copa America winner, has 48 goals for his country, including two goals at the 2014 World Cup before moving from Barcelona to Arsenal a month later.

Marseille began their Ligue 1 season on Sunday with a 4-1 home win over Reims.
