Marseille enforces his second place with an important win

Marseille strengthened their side with a late 2-1 win over Metz with a beautiful goal for Polish substitute Arkadiusz Milik on Sunday, in the closing stages of the 24th round of the French Ligue 1.

Marseille secured their second successive win, lifting their tally to 46 points, 13 points behind Paris Saint-Germain, and 4 points away from third-placed Nice after the latter fell to Lyon on Saturday.

Marseille entered the game following their humiliating elimination from the quarter-finals of the French Cup by losing to Nice 4-1 midweek. Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli’s side had a big victory over Angers (5-2) in the previous stage to continue their league awakening after losing to Lyon.

Cedric Bakambu of the Democratic Republic of Congo opened the scoring when a ball fell in front of him from a corner, he turned around and followed it from close range (26).

Metz equalized after Fali Cande passed a beautiful ball between the defenders to Ivorian Habib Maiga in the middle of the area who followed it from in front of goal into the net (53).

Milik gave Marseille the win when Bosnian Sead Kolasinac headed the ball into the area, tamed it beautifully, and hit it brilliantly into the net (82).
