Argentine Lionel Messi led his Paris Saint-Germain side to a 5-1 victory over defending champions Lille on Sunday in the 23rd leg of the French Ligue 1.
Saint-Germain sealed the game in the first half by scoring a triplet through Danilo Pereira (10), Presnel Kimpembe (32), and Lionel Messi (38), while adding two goals in the second half through Pereira himself (51) and Kylian Mbappe (67).
The losing team scored the only goal through Dutch defender Sven Botman (28).
Saint-Germain, who have not received a loss in their last 14 games in “Ligue 1” (9 wins against 5 draws), lifted their tally in first place to 56 points, 13 points ahead of runners-up Marseille.
The capital club made up for the loss of the French Cup title by losing at home to Nice on penalties 5-6 last Monday and avenged Lille, who snatched the domestic title last season and won it in the Champions Cup.
