Mikel Arteta’s new deal with Arsenal
“When we lost three games in a row [against Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Southampton], the club gave me the contract.”
“The club was so determined and devoted to doing it right away. They wanted to provide clarity to the project so that they wouldn’t have to worry about it throughout the summer.
“They [Arsenal players] discovered it this morning.” Some of them had previously enquired with me because they have concerns. But I don’t enjoy talking about it. It’s finished this afternoon.”
Mikel Arteta’s ambitions for the summer transfer window
“We aim to develop the team and the squad.” There isn’t a single player who can’t improve. We certainly want to keep our top players while also adding quality and depth.
“We have to be ready for when we’re going to do it [keep players] and why we’re going to do it.” We have control over such timeframes. It’s unavoidable at times, but we want to keep our finest players.”
