Mino Raiola, a football agent, has died, according to a family statement posted on his official Twitter account on Saturday.
On Thursday afternoon, Italian media reported that the 54-year-old – who represents players such as Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – had died, which was subsequently disputed on Raiola’s Twitter account.
However, a family statement issued on Saturday afternoon confirmed Raiola’s death, however, no timetable or cause of death was revealed.
“We share the death of the most compassionate and great football agent there ever was,” the Raiola family said in a statement.
“Mino battled to the very end with the same zeal he brought to the bargaining table to protect our players.” Mino, as always, made us proud and never realized it.
“Mino impacted so many people’s lives with his work, and he established a new chapter in contemporary football history.” His presence will be much missed.
“Mino’s aim to make football a better environment for players will be pursued with the same zeal.”
“We appreciate everyone for their tremendous support during these difficult times and respectfully request that family and friends’ privacy be respected in this time of bereavement.”
