A report says that Monaco and Liverpool have agreed to a deal for Japan forward Takumi Minamino.

The 27-year-old has had trouble becoming a regular member of the first team since he was bought from RB Salzburg for £7.65 million in January 2020.

Minamino also tried to make a name for himself in England by spending the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Premier League club Southampton.

When the forward came back from his loan on the south coast, he made the most of the few chances he had and was a key part of Liverpool’s domestic cup double.

Minamino was seen as the best player in the early rounds of both the Carabao and FA Cups. He scored 10 goals in all competitions, and many of them were important to getting to the finals of both cups.

Sky Sports News says that his time at Anfield is almost over because Ligue 1 club Monaco has reached a deal with Liverpool to buy him for £15.5 million.

The deal is good for Liverpool because it will almost double what they put in at first.

Minamino’s departure will be sad for Reds fans, though, because he had become a fan favorite over the past few months thanks to his hard work and key contributions.
