The highly-anticipated clash between reigning champions Inter and hosts Napoli ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday in the 25th round of the Italian Serie A.
After a dramatic 1-2 loss to neighbors Milan in a game in which they were ahead until the last quarter of the hour before two goals by French champion Olivier Giroud, Inter found themselves in danger of losing the lead after Saturday’s draw with hosts Napoli, who did not invest his advantage and opportunities in this position to snatch the lead from “Nerazzurri”.
The gap between the defending champions and Napoli remained one point (54 to 53) in the hope that Sampdoria will serve them by beating Milan (52) on Sunday at the “San Siro”.
This disappointing draw for both sides comes before a busy week for them, as Inter are to face Liverpool on Wednesday at home in the Champions League round of 16, while Napoli travels to Spain to meet Barcelona on Thursday in the knockout stage of the Europa League.
Lorenzo Insigne (7) scored for Napoli while Edin Dzeko scored for Inter (47).
Lazio, on the other hand, had a big win over Bologna 3-Zero.
The Torino and Venezia match ended with the latter winning 2-1.
