Nice replaces PSG target Galtier by Favre

It was announced on Monday that Nice has recruited Lucien Favre as their new head coach to replace Christophe Galtier, who is likely to take over at PSG.

Nice described Favre’s first stint with the club, from 2016 to 2018, as “engraved in the history.”

A third-place finish in Ligue 1 and qualification for the Champions League were the highlights of Favre’s debut season.

“Respect and appreciation” and Favre’s preferred style of play mesh perfectly with what the club desires, Jim Ratcliffe wrote in a message to fans.

Having spent two years in charge of Nice before being recruited to Borussia Dortmund, Favre was sacked 18 months ago after his teams twice finished second in the Bundesliga.

This season, Favre assumes leadership of a Nice squad that finished fifth in the Europa Conference League standings a year ago.
