Pogba suffers injury blow as he is rled out of Barca game

During Juventus’ preseason training, French midfielder Paul Pogba had a lateral meniscus lesion in his right knee.

Pogba limped off the pitch in Los Angeles, and as a result, the former Manchester United player will not go with the Italian team to Dallas as part of their pre-season tour of the United States.

According to Football Italia, the injury happened barely two weeks after his comeback to Juve, and he will now consult a specialist to assess whether he needs surgery to fix it.

He did not appear to be in too much pain after complaining of knee pain, but scans revealed the depth of the damage.

‘Following complaints of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological scans, which revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,’ read a Juventus club statement.

‘He will have a specialized orthopaedic consultation in the coming hours.’

‘As a result, in order to continue therapy, he is not participating in the trip to Dallas.’

With the Old Lady’s first Serie A match of the season against Sassuolo on August 15 approaching, the midfielder is in a race against time to be ready.

If surgery is not required, the prognosis for similar injuries is two to three weeks, but if the specialist determines that is the best course of action, he might be away for at least a month.

The Italian giants had planned to sell center midfielders Arthur, Aaron Ramsey, and Adrien Rabiot, but with Pogba likely on the sidelines, the Old Lady’s intentions could change.

Following the free transfer of the Frenchman, the three central midfielders were not seen as part of Juventus’ long-term tactical philosophy.

Ramsey and Rabiot both earn around €7 million per year, and Arthur is said to earn the same amount in incentives, according to Tuttosport.

Juve fans will be upset, perhaps even more so given the fantastic displays the midfielder was putting on in training.

In one video posted to Juventus’ official Twitter page, Pogba skips by his defender before performing an audacious backheel ball to his teammate.
