Real Madrid thrash Mallorca and strengthens their authority in La Liga

Real Madrid strengthened their lead in the Spanish La Liga by beating hosts Real Mallorca by three goals on Monday at the conclusion of the 28th stage of the competition.

Vinicius Jr. opened the scoring in the 55th minute before captain Karim Benzema added the second goal from a penalty in the 77th minute and the third in the 82nd minute, taking his tally to 22 goals in the league’s top scorers.

The Royal Club achieved its fourth consecutive victory in the league, raising its score to 66 points in the lead and 10 points above Sevilla te second, while Real Mallorca lost its fifth consecutive and 14th this season, staying in sixteenth place with 26 points.

Benzema, who is at his best with Real, suffered a left foot injury in the 85th minute and had to leave the field to complete the game with ten players after Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti ran out of the legal five substitutions.

Real Madrid faced Mallorca with a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League on Wednesday and reached the quarter-finals of the competition by winning on aggregate (3-2).

Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team prepared in the best for the Clasico, which will bring him together with rivals Barcelona next Sunday in the “Santiago Bernabeu” within the twenty-ninth round of the LaLiga.
