Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the Manchester United first-team squad on July 26 and played his first minutes of pre-season against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. The Portuguese striker has previously expressed his desire to quit United, but for the time being, he has little alternative but to remain in Manchester. The Old Trafford club kicks off their season on August 7th against Brighton, and Ronaldo would want to know where he will be playing before then.

Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, has been visiting and talking with numerous prominent European teams in order to find a way out for the 37-year-old. Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Napoli have all made contact with Mendes, although negotiations have not yet progressed.
Time is running out with less than a week till the start of United’s 2022-23 Premier League season. All signs are that the Portuguese star will have to start the season with United, albeit he is unlikely to participate against Brighton, according to Erik ten Hag, who said on Sunday that he is out of shape.
Atlético, despite club president Enrique Cerezo’s claim that he has rejected any such desire, and Napoli look to be the two most probable destinations for Cristiano to leave Manchester United at the present. Atlético must sell numerous players in order to fund Diego Simeone’s dream signing, while the Italian club hopes he will ultimately choose to play for them. It remains to be seen if any additional bidders emerge between now and the conclusion of the transfer window to match the Portuguese star’s expectations.
