Ronaldo calls for change in Manchester United’s mentality

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo urged his teammates to change the mentality in the dressing room, saying that not occupying one of the top three in the Premier League is not be acceptable.

The interim coach, German Ralf Rangnik, has managed to stop Manchester United’s downward trajectory in the Premier League since taking over from Norway’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but United are still in seventh place by a margin of 22 points behind his neighbor Manchester City.

Ronaldo, the five-time world’s best player, called for a change of mentality in the dressing room to counter United’s poor level, which led to a 1-0 loss against Wolverhampton last week.”Manchester United must win the league or take second or third place.” In my heart, I don’t accept that our mentality is less than being in the top three in the Premier League,” he said.

The former Real Madrid star continued”I think to build good things sometimes you have to destroy some other things. New year, new life, I hope Manchester is at the level that people, especially fans, want. We’re able to change things now.”We can do it better, each of us,” Cristiano said. I don’t want to be here at the club to fight for sixth or seventh place. I’m here to try to win and compete. I think if we changed our mind, we could achieve big things.”
