Ronaldo leads Manchester United to overtake Arsenal and makes history

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo led his Manchester United team to surpass Arsenal after a thrilling match that saw him score the 800th goal of his career.

Manchester United gave his fans a 3-2 victory over Arsenal on Thursday in the 14th stage of the competition. The clash saw Ronaldo score the 800th goal of his career before finishing on the 801st goal, in which he gave the Red Devils the win.

Smith-Rowe scored a controversial goal for the visitors (13) before Bruno Fernandes equalised the score at the end of the first half (44).Ronaldo gave Manchester United the advantage in the second half (52) with a goal that was the 800th goal of the Portuguese star’s career but Norway’s Odegaard then replied very quickly (54).

Ronaldo returned to give United the lead with a penalty (70) and the three points to climb to eighth place with 21 points with 23 points for Arsenal in fifth place.

Ronaldo has already scored five goals for Sporting, 450 for Real Madrid, 101 for Juventus, 115 for the national team and 130 for United. Ronaldo became the first player to reach at least 800 goals in his professional career after Joseph Pecan (Czech Austrian 805) to consolidate his historic superiority over many legends of the game such as Pelé, Messi and Romario.
