Roy Hodgson appointed as coach for Watford

Watford announced on Tuesday the appointment of Roy Hodgson as their new head coach.

Watford on Tuesday appointed the former England coach Roy Hodgson to be the team’s third coach this season after the dismissal of Italian Claudio Ranieri. Hodgson arrived at Vicarage Road just 24 hours after Ranieri was sacked on Monday after Watford slipped to the relegation zone in the English Premier League following last weekend’s 3-0 loss to Norwich City.

“Watford are pleased to confirm Roy Hodgson as the club’s coach,” the club said in a statement. The statement noted that his trusted assistant Ray Lewington will join him, who led Watford from 2002 to 2005 and achieved impressive results.”

Hodgson left Crystal Palace at the end of last season, with many believing his exit would mark the end of a remarkable training career.
