Hasan Salihamidzic, the director of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, has confirmed that young midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has completed a move to the club.
Gravenberch has made a big splash with his strong play for Ajax in the Eredivisie and Champions League. He has also gotten his first caps for the Netherlands since his first game in 2021.
Bayern has been keeping an eye on the 20-year-old with the goal of signing him. His teammate Noussair Mazraoui, a right-back, has already moved to Bavaria.
The deal between Bayern and Ajax was reached last month, and Salihamidzic has now said that the club is happy to have Gravenberch at the Allianz Arena.
“He signed,” he told Bild. We’ve finished the deal, and we’re glad he’s here and ready to start working with us.
“He has a lot of strengths and good technique, and he can solve problems in tight spaces. With his speed and skill, he can move the ball forward, score goals, and defend. He will move forward with us.”
Gravenberch just got to Germany to finish the move, and he talked about what to expect at his new team.
He said: “Bayern is a famous team. I think you need to win big titles here. And I also expect that to happen.
“I’m glad to be in Munich right now.”
Gravenberch has signed a five-year deal, and the transfer fee is thought to be around €18 million upfront and another €5 million in variables. Ajax will also get a cut of any sales in the future.
