Sanchez saves Inter from falling to Torino

Chilean substitute Alexis Sanchez saved defending champions Inter from a loss at the Turin stadium by snatching a 1-1 draw in the killer time, while Nigerian Victor Osimhen kept Napoli at the heart of the title fight.

Osimhen led Napoli to a 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona on Sunday in the 29th leg of the Italian Serie A.

Inter survives from a loss

In Turin, Inter were close to receiving their fourth defeat of the season after falling behind to hosts Torino from the 12th minute with a goal by Brazilian Bremer, whose ball arrived from Tommaso Pobega after a corner kick.

But Alexis Sanchez, who entered alongside Chilean Arturo Vidal in the 68th minute in place of Argentine Lautaro Martinez and Uruguayan Matias Vecino, saved Simone Inzaghi’s side from defeat by snatching the tie in the third minute of stoppage time after a pass from Bosnian Edin Dzeko.

Fiorentina remained in contention for the European seats after returning to the triumphant track following a League-tie defeat and a home loss in the Cup semi-final to Juventus (0-1), with a 1-0 home win over Bologna.

“Viola” owes its fourteenth victory this season to Uruguayan Lucas Torreira, who scored the only goal (70) in a meeting completed by the guests with ten players since the 41st minute after Kevin Bonifazi was expelled for having two warnings.

Atalanta and Roma stumble

Fiorentina, who are waiting for a very difficult confrontation between now and the end of the season as they will meet Inter, Napoli, Milan, Roma, and Juventus in the remaining nine stages, raised his tally to 46 points, the same number of points as Lazio seventh, who play on Monday with Venezia, while they are two points behind Atalanta, who struggled in a negative draw at home with Genoa the specialist in draws.

Atalanta are 8 points behind in Champions League final fourth place, which is occupied by Juventus, who beat Sampdoria 3-1.

Roma, who beat Atalanta 1-2, were no better than coach Jean-Piero Gasperini’s side, as Jose Mourinho’s men were on their way back from Udinese for the tenth defeat of the season after falling behind until the fourth minute of stoppage time with a goal scored from the 15th minute by Argentine Nahuel Molina, but Lorenzo Pellegrini saved a point from a fatal penalty after a handball in the penalty area on Dutchman Marvin Zeegelaar.

Roma raised their tally to 48 points in sixth place but will fall to seventh if their arch-rival Lazio beat Venezia on Monday.
