Liverpool said that Takumi Minamino has completed a permanent transfer to Monaco.

Liverpool said that Takumi Minamino has completed a permanent transfer to Monaco.

Reports from the past few days said that Liverpool and the Ligue 1 club had reached a deal for the 27-year-old player worth £15.5 million, and now the transfer is official.

After joining from RB Salzburg for £7.65 million in January 2020, the Japan international had trouble becoming a regular member of the first team. He spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Premier League club Southampton.

When the forward came back from his loan on the south coast, he made the most of the few chances he had and was a key part of Liverpool’s domestic cup double.

Minamino was seen as the best player in the early rounds of both the Carabao and FA Cups. He scored 10 goals in all competitions, and many of them were important to getting to the finals of both cups.

Even though Liverpool made a good profit on the transfer, it will be hard for Minamino to leave the club even though it was a smart move.

After a strong season last year, he became a fan favorite among coaches, teammates, and fans, and everyone will be rooting for him to do well in France.
