Ter Stegen will miss Germany’s Nations League matches in June

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen of Barcelona has stated that he will miss Germany’s Nations League games against England, Italy, and Hungary in June.

The 30-year-old is Germany’s substitute to captain Manuel Neuer and has decided to take a vacation this summer in preparation for the World Cup in Qatar, which begins in November.

He claimed to have received permission from Germany’s head coach, Hansi Flick.

“I’m thrilled every time I’m chosen, but after three intense seasons without a summer vacation, the national coach agrees that I need this,” Ter Stegen told the German Football Association’s website.

Ter Stegen will miss the games against Italy in Bologna on June 4, England in Munich three days later, and Hungary in Budapest on June 11.

He will also miss the return match against the Azzurri on June 14 in Moenchengladbach.

Ter Stegen earned his Germany debut in 2012 but has only made 28 international appearances due to Neuer’s superiority.
