Mane and Salah contribute to Liverpool’s win over Norwich
Thanks to two brilliant goals from Senegalese Sadio Mane and Egyptian Mohamed Salah and the third by the newcomer Colombian Luis Diaz, Liverpool achieved their eighth consecutive victory in all competitions, most notably in the midweek over Inter 2-0 in the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s team raised its tally to 57 points in second place. Salah strengthened his lead as the top scorer with 17 goals, 5 goals ahead of fellow Portuguese Diogo Jota, who was absent due to injury.
Salah became the second-fastest player to reach the 150th goal in Liverpool colors in all competitions (233 games) behind Roger Hunt (226 games), and the 10th player to reach 150 goals in the history of the club according to “Opta” statistics.
Chelsea prepare for Lille in the best way
Chelsea made a successful return to the Premier League after Saturday’s Club World Cup triumph over Brazil’s Palmeiras for their 5th consecutive win in all competitions and came at the expense of hosts and neighbors Crystal Palace with a killer goal scored by Moroccan Hakim Ziyech in the 89th minute after a cross from Spaniard Marcos Alonso.
German coach Thomas Tuchel’s side is in the best way to continue their Champions League campaign as they host France’s Lille on Tuesday in the final.
Arsenal overcome Brentford
Arsenal are on level term with 5th-placed West Ham, after beating Brentford by two goals scored by Emile Smith Rowe (48) and Bukayo Saka (79) as Christian Norgaard (90+4) scored the only goal for Brentford.
Everton suffered a second defeat in their third league game under new manager Frank Lampard and came on at the hands of hosts Southampton with two clean goals.
Burnley also secured the win by beating hosts Brighton 3-to-zero, sending Norwich back to last place.
