German Ilkay Gundogan (33) and Algerian Riyad Mahrez (90+2 from the penalty spot) scored both goals for the Citizens.
The Spurs raised their tally to 39 points in 7th place. In turn, Man City’s balance froze at 63 points at the top of the Premier League.
Tottenham disrupted Manchester City’s impressive start to the Premier League this season and caused their third defeat in the competition, but their first since a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the same stadium on October 30.
